After class today, I flipped on the television, and after reviewing a few channels, I ended up on Animal Planet. On was a show I've seen several times, a show recounting Steve Irwin's life. In fact, it was produced in 2000, long before Steve Irwin died. His passing was such a huge loss for the animal kingdom. The passion and enthusiasm that he had for the conservation of animals moves me to tears every time I watch him. One thing he said in particular has always stood out to me:
"It's my job to make humans love animals, because if humans love animals, they will want to save animals."
How very simple, but how incredibly powerful.
